It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

For all of us at Hartford Care, Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year. At our 16 care and nursing homes, everybody has been having so much fun preparing for the festivities that bring special magic and enjoyment. Here’s just a snippet of some of the activities our residents have been enjoying:

Reindeer visits

Malden House in Sidmouth has been very active over the past couple of weeks and, residents have been busy rehearsing for a special outdoor performance. Some of the Malden ladies, gentlemen and team members also visited Cotley Farm in Whimple, near Exeter, where they bought one of their Christmas trees and met some reindeer.

Christmas outings

The ladies, gentlemen and team at Springfield Nursing Home in Shanklin paid a visit to their local supermarket to stock up on some Christmas goodies. While at Ashley Grange in Downton, they visited St Thomas’s Church in Salisbury where their decorated Christmas tree was on display at the Christmas Tree Festival there.

Singing

There has also been the sound of music at Belford House, Four Marks, where everybody took part in a Talent Night, one of the highlights being the Belford Belles singing ‘If You Were The Only Boy In The World’. The Boulters Lock Choir in Maidenhead has also been rehearsing ready to sing a selection of carols on Christmas Day; Click here for a special preview.

Getting crafty

Making Christmas decorations is a favourite pastime and, at Stokeleigh in Bristol, the ladies and gentlemen have made some beautiful wooden snowmen to adorn their tree. At The Elms in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, some lucky people will be receiving some stunning Christmas cards made by its residents.

Advent calendar

Woodlands House in the New Forest has been delighting everybody with their special “live” Advent Calendar, their ladies and gentlemen each sharing a video message on each day of Advent, all of which have appeared on their Facebook page.  Day 1’s video can be viewed here

All Aboard

Residents and team members from Tegfield House in Winchester had the most memorable train ride onboard the Watercress Illuminated Steam Train which runs between Alresford and Alton in mid-Hampshire.

Christmas trees

The focal point of all our homes is the beautiful Christmas trees, each of which have been lovingly decorated by the residents and teams. Bethel House in Barton on Sea, West Cliff Hall in Hythe, Highfield Nursing Home in Ryde, Newland House in Witney, Burnham Lodge in Burnham, and Hartford Court in Portsmouth all now have fabulous festive trees for everyone to enjoy.

We are all loving the winter wonderment in our care homes and, we shall bring you more wonderful photographs of our ladies, gentlemen and teams living their best lives as we all get into the Christmas spirit.
