New Managers join Burnham Lodge
Meet Paulo Ilustrisimo and Daniella Johnson, the new manager and deputy manager of Hartford Care’s Burnham Lodge in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. Both bring a wealth of experience in clinical nursing and dementia care.
Born in the Philippines, Paulo qualified as a nurse in 1992, has 30 years nursing experience and has taken on roles in nursing at High Wycombe General Hospital and then at the intensive care unit of the world-famous Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
He then worked in intensive care units in several hospitals as part of an Outreach team before working at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. There, he met a world-renowned Professor/Physicist and astronomer from Cambridge and was invited to join his team as his Clinical Lead Manager.
“He was an amazing gentleman – so down to earth and a genius. He said I was his best nurse,” recalls Paulo.
In 2018, Paulo decided he wanted to go into the care home industry, working in several care homes as deputy manager and in a peripatetic clinical and turn-around home manager’s role.
Daniella started her career in care 18 years ago but made dementia care her priority and passion, working as a reminiscence coordinator for 10 years and then as a dementia care manager.
“Dementia care is where my heart is. It feels perfectly natural to me. Dementia care is all about developing the relationships with the people living with dementia, their families and loved ones, so we work together to have a greater understanding.”
Daniella has also been invited to give a talk on her work at a dementia café in Wokingham.
She is looking forward to delivering training to the Burnham Lodge team so they too can develop a greater awareness and better support residents living with dementia.
