The Longest Day Golf Challenge
With the Open Golf starting soon at Royal Portrush, we at Hartford Care Group are still reflecting on the tremendous success of our Longest Day Golf Challenge held on 20th June, our first major fund-raiser for our chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over the course of 15 hours and 20 minutes, our intrepid Hartford Heroes, led by Hartford Care Group CEO Sean Gavin, clocked up collectively an astonishing 72 holes, 26 miles, 8,500 calories and 56,000 steps. As well as tackling the marathon course, they had to contend with literally four seasons in a day weather-wise including blistering sunshine, wind and rain.
Despite the changing elements, Sean, together with Ian Finnie, Richard Gamble and Sam Blundell, completed the challenge with a smile, ably assisted by a Hartford Care support team that kept them well fed, watered and motivated throughout.
So far, they have raised nearly £2500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, an amazing total, with donations still being received.
A huge thanks goes from Hartford Care to Sherfield Oaks Golf Club in Hook for hosting our historic round of golf.
Now, we are looking forward to our next fund-raising challenge, a Tough Mudder at Badminton in south Gloucestershire, where our brave team comprising Jo Gavin, Nicky Barnes and MaryAnne Scriven will be tackling a very testing course with plenty of obstacles to overcome along the route.
We will be posting details soon on about how you can sponsor our Hartford Care Tough Mudder team.
Many of our homes are also organising events to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support which you can learn more about on their Facebook pages. Please “like” their pages when you visit so you can receive regular updates on their activities.
