An outstanding care home in Sidmouth. Malden House is an elegant residential care home providing personalised residential, dementia and respite care in the charming town of Sidmouth in East Devon.  The original house, which dates back to 1820, is steeped in period charm, yet filled with warmth and understanding.  It has been thoughtfully redesigned, incorporating many original features to provide a safe, appealing and comfortable home for its residents. The classic look of Malden House lends the home a timeless quality that few care homes in Devon can rival.

UPDATE: at Hartford Care, we’ve been making some home improvements to all of our existing properties and Malden will benefit from the following investments which commence work in October 2023. Decoration and carpeting to all communal areas and corridors, new artwork throughout the home, one room conversion to ensuite wet room, new bedrooms created on the ground floor, and solar panel installation. Our facilities team will continue carrying out improvement works to all of our existing homes in such a way that residents are disturbed as little as possible. As always, our goal is to improve the lives of our residents by increasing comfort, activity options, and happiness.

The ‘home from home’ atmosphere is truly unique to Malden, we are part of an extended family that focuses on living our lives to the fullest, having lots of fun and sharing unbreakable bonds. I am extremely proud to be a part of the Hartford Care family and I really believe a good team and good connections with our residents families and loved ones are vital in the role of providing the best care for our residents. We take a holistic approach here, it doesn't stop at the personalised care plans we build for each resident, we also have a highly trained kitchen team who produce home-cooked fresh meals every day, and activity co-ordinators who make sure everyone continues engaging in their favourite hobbies and interests, and can even learn new fun and exciting things if they choose."

Our Facilities

Malden House is a wonderfully cosy, comfortable, and family-orientated home. It comprises 19 generously proportioned bedrooms which are all newly decorated, tastefully furnished and equipped with a flat screen digital TV, telephone point and 24-hour call bell. Malden House also boasts comfortable communal areas as well as a beautiful and well-maintained sensory garden which includes a herb garden and a greenhouse, as well as a delightful summer house, where our residents can relax and enjoy their tranquil surroundings.

Malden House enjoys the best of all worlds, being located in a beautiful and popular seaside town with its world-famous folk festival and annual airshow, plus numerous other beaches and the city of Exeter within close proximity. We also have close links to our local community and have established good relationships with the local churches, library, schools and nurseries who visit us at the home on a regular basis - a great way for our residents to stay connected with the local community.
