Introduction
This statement sets out the actions of Hartford Care Group Limited to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to its business and to put in place steps that are aimed at ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in its own business and its supply chains.
This statement relates to actions and activities during the financial year 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
Our organisation is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities, and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.
Organisational structure and supply chains
Hartford Care Group Limited provides residential, nursing, dementia, respite or day care services in a range of locations across the South of England and the Isle of White and have been operating since 2003.
We had 19 care homes in the UK for the financial year being reported.
At Hartford Care, our mission is to create caring communities that are safe and happy for all. We want to be the home of choice in every area we operate in, not just for residents to live in safety and security, but also to be the best employer. The overall goal is for our employees and residents to engage with all aspects of the local community, and we aim for this spirit to resonate through everything we do.
Our homes deliver person-centred care where we ensure our residents can enjoy every single day with the reassurance that their needs, feelings and wishes remain paramount so they can maximise their independence.
All our homes have their own unique character and style, but one thing which remains consistent across all of our homes is their comfortable, cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Each home has been designed to create a home-from-home experience, with beautifully furnished communal areas for relaxation and social purposes. Each home has wheelchair-friendly access into its own beautiful garden, so our residents can really make the most of their surroundings and feel completely at home.
We’re committed to continuously improve our practices to identify and eliminate slavery and human traffic in our business and supply chains and to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
Our supply chains include the procurement of agency labour, food and beverages, medical consumables, facilities maintenance, utilities and waste management.
Policies
Our internal policies and supplier contracts reflect our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our business relationships. Similar expectations around ethics and compliance are clearly communicated by Hartford Care to our supply chain partners. When entering into formal arrangements with suppliers and when periodically reviewing supply chains, we continuously seek to detect any indicators of slavery or human trafficking.
Due Diligence
We continue to monitor suppliers in our supply chain and review the information submitted by suppliers to identify and assess any potential risks.
We provide our employees with a level of awareness of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking during the induction process. Our employees are actively encouraged to identify and report any potential conflicts or breaches of our anti-slavery statement or our company values using the Whistleblowing policy and dedicated contact number.
Employees can find details on our policies and whistleblowing contact details within their care homes and handbook.
Looking Ahead
Over the course of the next financial year we will continue to review our procedures to help us identify, prevent and mitigate any risks of modern slavery or human trafficking with new and existing suppliers.
