Our Home

At Hawkinge House Care Home in Folkestone, our Proactive Assessment Unit (PAU) offers NHS patients a warm and welcoming place to rest, recover, and receive the holistic care they deserve. The PAU is designed for individuals who may no longer need to be in hospital but still benefit from clinical observation, expert assessments, and thoughtful planning for their next steps.

Our dedicated nursing and care teams get to know every resident as a person, not just a patient. We listen to each story and work together to understand every individual’s health background, physical abilities, emotional needs, and future goals. In this comforting atmosphere, families are encouraged to stay connected and involved, with open communication guiding every decision.

During their stay, residents receive proactive health monitoring, gentle rehabilitation, medication reviews, and compassionate support for complex conditions like dementia or frailty. The entire multidisciplinary team brings both professionalism and kindness, ensuring each care plan is tailored to help residents feel confident, valued, and ready for what’s next, whether a return home, transition to continued care, or moving into one of Hawkinge House’s supportive long-term communities.

We celebrate the people who make our unit special, from dedicated staff to caring families, we make sure every person feels respected and heard. At Hawkinge House PAU, comfort and companionship sit alongside clinical excellence, creating a bridge to a brighter, healthier future.

Life at our Home

"I started my journey in adult care in 2004 when I joined the industry as a care worker in the community, previous to this I had managed a dental practice but felt that a career in Social Care would be more rewarding. Since that time, I have worked my way through the industry to become an Operations Director and then finally in June 2020 I joined Hawkinge House PAU as the Registered Manager of the brand-new service. Hawkinge House PAU is an assessment unit for patients that are leaving an acute hospital setting and require a period of assessment to establish their longer-term care needs. I am passionate about giving the best possible care to every patient that comes through our doors, regardless of their situation. It is always my aim to ensure that every patient that comes through the PAU feels heard and safe. I am supported by an amazing team that has a wealth of experience in the industry and shares the same goals and aspirations for the care that we deliver that I do."
