Sadie Mount, Activities Coordinator at our Boulters Lock care home in Maidenhead, has raised over £2,000 for Dementia UK by successfully completing a charity skydive during Dementia Action Week (18th to 24th May).

Sadie, who is very scared of heights, planned the 13,000ft skydive to overcome her fear and raise money to help families caring for relatives with dementia. It’s a cause close to the hearts of many at Boulters Lock, where we provide specialist dementia care alongside residential care, respite breaks, day care and end of life care.
On the day of the jump, Sadie was joined by colleagues, residents from Boulters Lock and their families at Hinton Skydiving Centre in Brackley. The group made a day of it, travelling together to cheer Sadie on and offer their support as she took on the challenge.
Ashleigh Newman, Home Manager at Boulters Lock, says:
“The Boulters Lock family is so proud of Sadie. She was incredibly nervous about facing her fear of heights, which made this initiative all the more amazing. We could hear her before we could see her as she approached the ground! We had a super day out at the skydiving centre and our residents really enjoyed coming along to support Sadie.”

Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support through their Admiral Nurse service, offering families one-to-one support, expert guidance and a lifeline during some of the most difficult times. The money Sadie has raised will help the charity continue this vital work.
We are incredibly proud of Sadie for taking on this challenge and raising such an impressive amount for a cause that means so much to our residents, their families, and our team. It’s a wonderful example of the community spirit at Boulters Lock and the compassion our colleagues show every day.
