Life at our Home

"My name is Marie. I am the General Manager at Cornford House. I am an experienced, supportive, caring, and efficient leader with over 20 years of experience in the Health and Social Care sector and over 10 years in a management position. I have worked in various Leadership and Management positions within the healthcare sector, with extensive experience working in partnership with external stakeholders and managing large teams. I have love and passion for leading a team and being supportive of my colleagues as well as the residents and their families. I have worked with several client groups and their needs include people with Complex Physical and Emotional needs, Mental Health needs, and Behaviours that challenge Epilepsy and Dementia. The skills and competence obtained from studying for a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care have enabled me to successfully plan, lead and implement change within a healthcare setting. I have a strong work ethic, and I am proud to work in the care sector, which has been recognised by NHS England and CQC, who complimented me on my leadership style, determination, and commitment to implement change, working as one team. I always put people first, show kindness and still have the energy to love life and make it meaningful for myself and those in my care. In my spare time, I train to run half marathons and raise money for local charities. I have a keen interest in current Care Standards, legislation and Innovation, which includes– Person-Centred Assessment and Care Planning, staff and carers training and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS), and designing and implementing Best Practice Guidelines for Older People and People who live with Dementia."
