Woodlands House, Hartford Care’s care home in the New Forest, Hampshire, has received an overall ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Following an inspection by the CQC in March 2020, the care home was awarded four ‘Good’ ratings and received one ‘Outstanding’ rating for its responsiveness – its ability to meet people’s needs.
The report states: “The provider had fostered an overwhelmingly person-centred approach to delivering care. There was a focus on giving people meaningful occupations, utilising skills and keeping people connected to their local community.
“Activities in the home were creative, wide-ranging and designed with people’s skills and interests in mind. This had clear benefits in improving people’s physical and mental wellbeing.”
Residents, their relatives, and staff at the care home in Woodlands Road, Woodlands, are delighted with the outcome.
The CQC report provides details to demonstrate the quality of life for those for whom Woodlands House is home.
Sean Gavin, CEO of Hartford Care, says: “Huge congratulations to Lisa Sellens, Woodlands House’s manager, and her team for this terrific inspection result. I know the team has worked tirelessly to ensure their care meets the individual needs of all their residents. This is borne out by them being awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating for their responsiveness.
Lisa Sellens, Registered Manager of Woodlands House, adds: “I feel so proud of our achievement. We are all totally committed to ensuring our residents live their best lives within our safe and secure environment.
“I am absolutely thrilled with our ‘outstanding’ rating for responsiveness, which is all down to our wonderful compassionate Woodlands House team who fully understand the particular interests and needs of each of our residents. I cannot praise them highly enough for the care and support they offer to each one of them.”
Woodlands House, an elegant country residential home set in its own extensive grounds and landscaped gardens, has 38 bedrooms, nine of which are in The Cottage, its specialist dementia care unit.
