At Hartford Care, our volunteers play an important part in creating caring communities and bringing something special to the lives of our residents.  Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking to gain experience in health and social care, there are lots of ways to get involved.  

Our volunteering opportunities can be flexible around your availability.  It’s your time, enthusiasm and contribution that makes a difference.

Ways you can get involved

There are so many ways to share your time, skills and interests with our residents:  

  • Be a friendly face - Spend time chatting with residents, sharing stories or simply enjoy a cup of tea together
  • Share a favourite hobby – bring your interests to life, whether its music, gardening, crafts baking, reading, games or other activities you enjoy
  • Bring people together – organise a book or knitting group, quiz, bingo or games afternoon and create opportunities for residents to enjoy time together
  • Enjoy the outdoors – help in our gardens, accompany residents on walks or support outdoor activities and outings
  • Help create special moments – support visits, events, celebrations and activities that give residents opportunities to enjoy themselves and make memories.

You don’t need previous experience to volunteer with is.  What matters most is that our friendly, reliable and enjoy spending time with people.

Explore a career in care

Volunteering or work experience can be a great way to discover whether a career in health and social care could be right for you.  You’ll have the opportunity to spend time in a care home, meet our teams and learn more about what it’s really like to work in care. 

For students and those considering a career change, work experience can provide valuable insight into the many different roles available withing a care home.
