Hartford Care’s newest care home, Alton Place in Hampshire, recently welcomed the local community to a special prize-giving evening, celebrating local creativity, community spirit, and charitable causes.

Held on Thursday, 26th June 2025, ahead of the home’s official July launch, the event brought together residents, local groups, schoolchildren, and artists to recognise the winners of Hartford Care’s photography competition and Community Fund initiative.

Celebrating the Best of Alton Through Photography

The photography competition invited people to submit original images that capture what they love most about Alton. With a wide variety of beautiful and heartfelt entries, the judging panel faced a tough task.

  • Winner: Courtney Ireson for a stunning photo of Chawton House. (photo 1)
  • Runner-up: Tony Cole for a striking black-and-white image of swans at King’s Pond. (photo 2)

These photographs truly reflected the unique charm and character of Alton.

Young Artists Shine at Anstey Junior School

Hartford Care was also delighted to involve pupils from Anstey Junior School, who created a wonderful collection of artwork inspired by their favourite parts of Alton.

  • Winner: Poppy
  • Runner-up: Ened

Their vibrant creations brought smiles to all in attendance and showcased the creativity of Alton’s younger generation.

£1,000 Community Fund Awarded to Home-Start Hampshire

Hartford Care launched its Community Fund earlier this year to support local charities, groups, and individuals making a real difference. With so many worthy applications, the judges had the tough task of selecting just one winner.

After careful consideration, the panel chose Home-Start Hampshire to receive the £1,000 grant, recognising the charity’s vital work in supporting families under pressure and helping parents give their children the best possible start in life.

Permanent Artwork Unveiled in Partnership with Alton Art Society

To add to the celebration, Hartford Care unveiled a beautiful new piece of artwork in collaboration with the Alton Art Society. This inspiring creation will remain on permanent display at Alton Place, enhancing the home’s warm and welcoming environment.

Creating Caring Communities at Alton Place

Emma Jones, Operations Director at Hartford Care, commented:

“Huge congratulations to our well-deserved winners! It was incredibly difficult to choose, with such inspiring entries from the community. We are committed to supporting our local communities, both within our homes and beyond, through kindness, connection and celebration of individuality.”
