Hear from our team

My names Gary and I am the General Manager of both Ashgrove and Ashleigh Court Care Homes in Gresford. I have worked in the care industry since 1994 and started my career as a Care Assistant, before progressing through senior and management roles., Throughout my career, I have worked across residential and dementia care and developed a strong belief that good care is about much more than meeting someone’s practical needs. It’s about enriching the quality of life for our residents, ensuring they live their lives to the full in a happy, safe and inclusive environment. Our aim is to create a warm, welcoming home and for our teams to feel valued and empowered.

Community

The community and location

Ashgrove is part of the Gresford community, a village with a rich history and plenty of character of its own. One of Gresford’s best-known landmarks is All Saints’ Church, home to the famous Gresford Bells, which have been celebrated for centuries and are traditionally counted among the Seven Wonders of Wales. There’s also plenty to explore with family nearby, from the National Trust estate at Erddig, to the historic city of Chester, and Wrexham's bustling town centre.

My mother has been a resident at Ashgrove for the past 11 months. She has dementia, and I cannot fault the care and compassion she has been given at Ashgrove. The personal and social care has been outstanding, and going to visit my mum is always an uplifting experience. I cannot give enough praise to the staff and management of the home. My mum has more of a spark about her since being there and always has a lovely, fresh, clean appearance. I feel blessed that she is there.

Friend of Resident

Ashgrove

I found the home to be warm and welcoming to residents and families. My grandmother was a resident for 3 years until she died recently. The staff always appeared to be genuinely caring and helpful. They displayed warmth and empathy to her and were always interested how they could improve her well being. I feel that they genuinely cared that made such a difference to her and to me. I have been in quite a few care homes with my work and not found any of their staff to be as caring as the ones in Ashgrove.

Granddaughter of Resident

Ashgrove

My husband has been a resident at Ashgrove Residential care home for four years where he has always been treated with the utmost care and dignity. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the family is always made welcome. Everywhere is always kept clean and bright. Food is really good and the activity staffs are always thinking up ways of keeping residents entertained. They have regular visits from singers local school children and are taken out on trips.
